After more than five years of specification and implementation work, MIDI 2.0 is no longer a future technology. Every major operating system now supports it. JUCE 8 ships a cross-platform UMP API. Seven Profiles are approved, and more are on the way. Hardware and plug-ins are shipping today.

This talk is a developer-focused tour of where MIDI 2.0 actually stands in 2026. We start with a brief refresh on the path to MIDI 2.0, MIDI-CI and the Universal MIDI Packet, then look at the practical state of play: which platforms, which Profiles, which tools, and which products. We close with a look at 10Pin Scope, a new MIDI debugging tool built from scratch for MIDI 2.0, and where to get involved with the work that is still in progress.
